Cooking With Kin: Homemade Guacamole

It’s been a little while since I’ve been able to jump on and blog! Work has been crazy busy and on top of that, we have had a few feet of snow, a polar vortex that brought our temps to -50, ice storms, back up to 50 degrees and then heavy winds nearly bringing our trees down. Spring, I am so ready for ya!

This is a slightly late post, but here goes!

Last weekend we had friends over to watch the Super Bowl. Holy boring! The game, the commercials, the half time show, all incredibly lame if you ask me! (Thankfully Animal Planet airs it’s annual Puppy Bowl, which is our favorite game to watch!) But let’s be honest, the best part of Super Bowl Sunday is the food! They say that Americans eat more than 1 billion chicken wings on Super Bowl Sunday. In-sane! My husband is a chicken wing fanatic, so we are no exception! We decided to serve wings, sandwiches, pretzel bites, veggies, chips & dips, and cookies. When hosting a party, extra hands can always be helpful, especially when those extra hands are tiny toddler hands!

Lately, my daughter has been very interested in helping me out in the kitchen, so I thought this would be a fun opportunity to let her help me make the guac! She pulled up a chair and started “mixing, mixing, mixing”! It turned out delicious and judging by all of the bites she kept sneaking, I think it’s safe to say that this is one toddler approved recipe!

The good thing about guacamole is that it is an incredibly easy recipe and very simple for toddlers to assist with! There’s really no right or wrong way to make it, it’s all about personal taste. My recipe below did not include any hot peppers, but if you like a little heat, you should definitely add a slice of jalapeno! Enjoy!
